If the definition of such is difficult to interpret or understand, then enigmatic suits the mood of the story. Adding a few machines to a Victorian setting is not my version of steampunk. This is more of a shifter paranormal story. The writing wasn't impressive, stiff dialogue and lackluster characters throughout. Contrived scenes prevailed in an attempt to move the plot along. For example, when the heroine needs to discover werewolves are afoot, despite working in a fully staffed mansion, the housekeeper sends her out into the woods alone at night to chop firewood with an axe as a form of punishment. I happen to be a woman who lives in the woods with a fireplace. Does the author know how difficult it is for the average woman to chop wood with an axe? It takes a lot of upper body strength. The heroine's physical description as a curvy sexpot doesn't lend well to the ease or speed in which she chops up tree limbs. Later, we find out that the housekeeper and everyone else on the staff apparently knew she would be attacked by a rouge werewolf outside. No repercussions are ever laid down by the lord of the manor or anyone else. All is forgiven, whoopsies...tried to kill you. The sex scenes didn't sizzle either. Never made it to the second story in this set, the first was enough.Product details

The Steampunk Romance Set takes us through the life of young Emma Sulsbury as she enters the mansion of a well-known billionaire to work as a housekeeper. We quickly learn the economic livelihood of her small town is diminishing, and her boss, Nathaniel Jacob Worthington the third, has given the town a glimpse of hope with his new railroad lines.
She begins her humble work in the mansion and befriends a fellow staff member, Susana, during her initial training. As the friendship blossoms, Emma slowly learns more and more eccentricities about her new billionaire boss. Months into her employment, she is out on a chore and his biggest secret is revealed with several twists.
As much as I tried, I was not able to put this book down. This suspenseful romance was a quick and easy read. Without giving anything away, I can honestly say Nathaniel and Emma take readers on an exciting roller coaster ride.
I can sum these two books up with one word; LOVE! I want more from Charity Bishop. I‘m looking forward to part three! I give the Steampunk Romance Set a definite 5 stars.....Beth
