I absolutely adore this story, but there's one element that always rubs me the wrong way. Faith's reasoning for not marrying Kenny is that she wouldn't be able to receive the sacraments in her Catholic church if she married a divorced man. However, that doesn't make sense. She's having premarital sex with him, which would also prohibit her from receiving the sacraments (or should). If it was that she really wanted to get married in the Catholic Church, that would be one thing, but even so that obstacle could be overcome if Kenny petitioned for an annulment of his first marriage (yes, non-Catholics can do this if they wish to marry in the Church).I understand that the whole point was that the excuse was a flimsy one because neither of them really wanted to get married anyway, but still. Faith, as an allegedly practicing Catholic, should have known better even if Kenny didn't.

Small Town Girl LaVyrle Spencer 9780425195772 Books Reviews
I have read every one of LaVyrle Spencer's books, but wish I had them all on tape, so I was thrilled to purchase the tapes of this book. She is my all time favorite Author, and I was heart broken when she decided to write no more. The tapes came in good condition and I was pleased to have them in my collection. I wish I could purchase additional of her recorded books.
One of favorite books! The plot is fun, the characters interesting, and the truths about life, our family, and our parents are so true. And of course the hero is a decent admirable person. Also really liked that the book was a romance but without all the sex usually in that type of book. Just a well written fun read.
Fairly unrealistic story but it describes the the inside of the country music industry and the non stop, hectic schedule of a star. Just a good old fashioned love story. Thank you Lavyrle for not throwing in the predictable "break up" of the
lovers once they finally got together. It seems every love story tries to throw those new lover break ups in and they become almost irritating rather than adding to the story!
This is one of my favorite romance novels ever. I have it in paperback and and have read it twice. The characters are realistic and I cared about all of them, even the ones I wasn't supposed to like so much. It's a very sweet, sometimes sad story with a happy ending.
If you haven't read Lavyle Spencer, what are you waiting for? The stories that she writes are all down to earth and believable but different enough that you don't feel the author is following a "recipe" and just changing the names and locations. I've never read any of her books that I haven't enjoyed completely and this is no exception.
I have all the Lavyrle Spencer books and wanted them in my library to re-read. There is not one of her books that I do not like. They are all great stories with well developed characters. Some make you feel Nostalgic some thoghtful and some light-hearted. Ms. Spencer was a really good story teller. Her books have stood the test of time and I am really enjoying re-visiting her stories. I hope you enjoy them as I do.
I thought I had read all of Lavyrle Spencer's books and somehow missed this one. My favorite was Separate Beds, however, I loved every one and after finishing this story I want to go back & read all of them again. It was a sad day for us readers when she decided to retire from writing. She is one of the best.
